Woensdag reist de Galerist af naar Berlijn om een sculptuur van beeldhouwer Marcel Prins af te leveren voor de tentoonstelling Die Weihnachtsmaschine (Christmasmachine) die vrijdag 7 december (19:00 uur) opengaat bij MFK - Galerie aan de Oranienburgerstrsse.
Op uitnodiging van Kay Biesalsky vertegenwoordigd galerieopweg Marcel Prins met de sculptuur Wasted Words. Het is een been-witte reliekhouder. Een gekooide doos bevat teksten over (beeldhouw-)kunst.
2007. Hout, ijzer, karton, bedrukt papier, lak. 145 x 27 x 23 cm.

De tentoonstelling loopt tot en met 22 december, en is te zien van maandag tot en met zaterdag, van 14:00 tot 20:00 uur.

'Christmasmachine

The “Christmas Machine” will be an exhibit about the 
iconography of Christmas. It shows the outgrowths of our 
prechristmassy imagination, tells about tradition and kitsch, 
Joseph and Salome and all the other things which contribute 
to the party of the “Incarnation of God”.  

All secrets and mysteries which are still hidden behind the 
item of “Christmas” and its historical, religious and 
contemporary meaning are part of the artistic conversion 
of the “Christmas Machine”. 

Because Christmas is a global event and shows infinite facets, 
the gallery MFK would like to unite all these "phenomena" and 
point in the "Christmas machine".'

Het in de zeventiende eeuw als huisdier populaire distelvinkje (Carduelis carduelis) is een zangvogel (Vivaldi, Il Gardellino RV 428 Opus 10 nr. 3 in D) en komt voor in bosjes, bosranden, stadstuinen en op parkeerterreinen. Het ongeveer 12 centimeter grote puttertje is in 1654 als trompe-l'oeil geportretteerd door Carel Fabritius (1622-1654), leerling van Rembrandt en vermoedelijk leermeester van Vermeer.



De sculptuur van Marcel Prins, Fear of flying, lijkt zonder gebruiksaanwijzing een 'mission impossible' te hebben; uitvliegen, een hoger vlucht nemen en uitstijgen boven het maaiveld. 'And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, then you risk even more.' (Erica Jong)
